Macross Official Website, Not Working?
Seems that the Official website www.macross.co.jp is not working. Everytime I go to it since this morning it stops loading at the main page at 33%. But if I type in www.macross.co.jp/zero for example that loads fine so I know its not a problem with the flash player. Can any of you guys get onto the official site or is it just a problem on my end (which it shouldnt be as I have been to it before)?
Anime Gear & Equipment, Help finding anime gadgets and gizmos
Hey if any body can help me find some good web sites that have various line art of gadgets, gizmos, and equipment from various sci-fi-ish anime [or any stuff that might be interesting], I'd really appreciate it.
I've tried the various search engines and they kind of fail on this topic.
Thanks.

Joss Whedon's: Dollhouse, All things Dollhouse or Joss Whedon
I just caught This on AICN for Joss Whedon's new TV series called Dollhouse.
Personally I love Joss Whedon's writing and style and I am a fan of all his TV shows. So I hope that this one does well, and Fox isn't lame.

The Xbox 360 Thread Pro Edition, All things Xbox 360!
I see the Elite Edition thread was closed so it's time for a new 360 thread. Unfortunately another SKU, not including the Arcade model, hasn't been introduced yet so I'll name this thread after the good old Pro system.
Back to 360 news, it was posted on a whole number of sites yesterday that the original Dreamcast Soul Calibur will be hitting XBLA latter this year.
As for MSG: Operation Troy/Mobile Ops: The One Year War, I wonder if a US release is still planned. Furthermore, I hope they drop the Mobile Ops name and restore Gundam to the title. So far all Gundam games for the PS3 and 360 have held onto their Gundam names.

Macross VF-X2 and Family Soft Mecha, Looking for a bit of information
Hey Macross game players, I need some help. I need some information about some mecha from the Macross video games VF-X2 and the Family Soft games from 1993-1995. Specifically, I want to know about the VF-11B VF-X2 color variant, the VB-6 Konig Monster from VF-X2 and the SDP-1 Stampede Valkyrie. I'd like to know any basic information about the fighters (who piloted them, what role the fighter fulfills, etc) as well as any specific information about the fighter like statistics and what not. I've already checked the Macross Compendium and read as much information on the fighters as it has. But I'd like some more information if possible. Even a little bit about what the fighter does in the context of the game story would be useful.
macross side stories
wouldn't it be nice if side stories where done for each series of macross?
like a side story of other squadrons engaged in the space war I or the life of destroid pilots during that time
what do you think?

MACROSS ZERO The Movie., Should there be one made???
Hi everyone, Just wondering if anyone else out there feels like I do, Some what lost after watching Macross Zero. Though the animation and action sequences are amazing and even the music is pretty good. I just felt the story was very rushed and like X-files, way to many questions left unanswered.
the same way that they took Macross Plus and made new footage, extra dialog for it to tie up the loose ends. I feel that they should take a swing and do the same for Macross Zero. And no more reusing or repeating the same scenes to save time. Would be nice to get a better background on Shin, Roy, A better view of the Macross when it crashed. Lets meets the newly formed UN Spacy and Anti-UN forces. Was that the same City-Ship under the sea as we saw in DYRL ??
I don't mean to ramble. But it would just be such a great piece of Anime with such potential, to be completed. Make it a full and satisfying Film, not something that got rushed into production. And yes, how about a recap ending, instead of just Shin flying off into the sunset. What happens to Roy afterwards (Yes I know the TV series and DYRL) Show the Anti UN surrender, Explain why the VF-0 Phoenix was replaced, What happens Mao. you know, start a story and end it.
Let be honest, enough requests and interest. Big West, Bandai and Yamato will see the $$$ signs.
What do you guys & gals think?

Tosugenki Love Heart in Macross Frontier
If you look in the credits of Macross Frontier, the credits for this song are listed but I haven't heard it in the show. Did I miss it somewhere? Did somebody just sing the lyrics without music etc? Or are we probably going to hear it in an upcoming episode?
I love getting to hear all these old Macross songs in the show, I almost thought that Ranka's song (the one she remembered from her old ship/colony) was going to be Voices. I am really sad though, that Ai Obete Imasuka isn't the ending theme like it was in episode 1.

Macross: DYRL + Macross Plus. Editions, subs, bootlegs and regions., And a couple questions about newer Macross videos...
So I've been looking for a DVD of Do You Remember Love for awhile now, I'll admit, I got my own bootleg, but it's such horrible quality that every time I watch it I want to run out and get a real version, but of course, you wont find a DVD of DYRL in any local stores it seems.
So I'm searching online, however I run into a handful of issues. I don't want to pay $15 for a bootleg, so I need a reliable place to get it from, if anyone can chime in for any websites that would be awesome. Secondly is editions, I know there is "remastered", then "perfect edition" apparently the perfect is better, however I've heard there is an HD version too, is this true?
Third is subs, the bootleg version I have has different subs than some clips I've seen from youtube, how do I know I'm getting good subs (I've seen the thread about replacement subs, are they really that bad? I guess I can follow the steps about sub replacement pretty easily if so anyway.
I've heard a lot about regions, but even being a computer programmer, I've never touched on this much, do I really need to worry about this with modern DVD players?
Moving onto Macross Plus, a simple question, in the music video "Information High" there are clips that are in it that aren't in the 4 episode version, are these left out bits in the "movie" version?
And finally, this Macross: Frontier, I hear a bit about it, but have no clue where to watch it, it looks awesome from what I've seen.
Anyway thanks for all the help, I've been a fan of Macross for awhile and eager to make the right choice in actually picking up quality DVDs that I'll keep with me for as long as they last.
Edit:I've seemed to find Macross: Frontier on Veoh, along with Macross: Do You Remember Love in better quality (though I still want the DVD), with the translations from this site. ;D

ADV should do a DVD thinpak of SDF Macross.
Seriously, I'd buy it in a heartbeat, though I heard the company is in a bit of trouble.......
But thinpaks have been a godsend for making anime affordable. It's small enough for your collection and they all sell for very reasonable prices.

Things we like about Macross 7.
Now, I'm not a fan of the show, but I do think there were some things did impress me about it.
-Macross 7 actually has my favorite Openings out of any anime. I LOVE Seventh Moon and the animation and visuals are pretty damn cool. Am I crazy or does the intro's style remind me of Macross Plus? I mean the wonderful animation and CG elements. (LOVE the beautiful opening shot of Basara walking as we zoom out to see City 7.) It seems like they spent more on that than the actual show. "Dynamite Explosion" is also a pretty badass intro. (part of me wishes it was the second Opening for the series instead of the OVA.)
-Basara pilots one of the coolest looking Valkyries ever. Seeing the design itself made me want to see the show.
-I love the clamshell designs of the City colonies and am glad they were retained on Macross Frontier. I also really like the design of Battle 7. (Battle Frontier seems to combine the styles of this and the original SDF Macross.)
-Mylene. What a cutie. Veffidas ain't bad looking either.
-They brought back Max and Millia.

In need of help founding out about a movie
I'am searching for a movie I saw as a kid, but cant remember the name, I have always wanted to see this again.. yesterday my friend told me about this macross series, that I never heard about before (i think) and I saw some clips from it on youtube, it looks exactly as I remember this movie from my younger days. I tried to explain the storyline and my memories from the movie to him, but he couldnt help me out to find it ( it was atleast 15 years ago I saw this )
So I'am now turning to the experts for help to find this movie.. the strongest of my memories is that it was only females in it (except 1 boy/guy that was born by one of this women), I remember they were on a spaceship, well, were the most of the movie took place, they fought against other females. I think this was this "war" going on or something.. and the movie ends with everyone dies, except this boy and one of the crew from this spaceship.
So I'am asking does this ring any bell for someone? Maybe its not even macross, but its, animated exactly like it. I hope someone could help me with this, cuz I really would like to see it once more...
Thanks in advance

The VF-9, the VF-X-10 and the VF-X-11, otherwise known as "Huh?"

Okay, so I get the whole history about the VF-9 Cutlass and VF-3000 Crusader created by Kawamori for a Bandai model product line that never came to be. So Kawamori reworked the designs and they became Valkyries for Macross video games. Wonderful. Which brings us to the VF-X-10, which as I understand it was the designation for the Cutlass fighter before it was moved over to Macross and became the VF-9. Am I still doing okay here so far?
So then, why does the 1986 line art of the VF-9 Cutlass have the designation "VF-X-11" written on the wing?
Macross Frontier Intro
Has anyone watched the opening sequence of macross frontier? If you guys could notice in the intro, nearing the end of the clip, there was a female with what looks like face paint on her cheek.. is she a vajra or maybe protoculture? and there was a shot where a vf-25 silhoutte would meet with what looks like another variable fighter but not a vf-25 nor vf171...looks like more of the a protodeviln mecha from m7, ...any comments?

Goldbook
So I didn't know where to ask this so I made a new topic. Does anyone have scans of the goldbook? I keep hearing about this mythical book of greatness and want to check it out. So I figured some one might have scanned their copy for the good of the community. So, did anyone?

Anima Spiritia MO
I was watching M0 again and we all know that with sheryl nome's singing, she was able to lift rocks and magically revive plants, and i noticed that they are able to connect telepathically,(pls. correct me if I am wrong.) the example was like mao shouting or trying to communicate with shin when he was going straight to sara...now here's the thing ....are the priestess of Mayan island or people from mayan islands anima spiritia? I didnt watch the whole of M7 but from what I read Basara is and Anima Spiritia, is it possible that he is a descendant from a surviving mayan villager?
Frontier Girls
Ok, so from all the debates about who is our favorite (and who isn't), I've decided that since there is such a wide variety of women in MacrossF, they should have their own thread. So, let's discuss here. Who is your favorite? Who would you want as a GF? Which is your least favorite? And PLEASE include WHY to feel this way. Pics are good too.
Robotech Live Action Movie, Anyone else find this? Is it true?
On September 7, 2007, the Hollywood Reporter stated that Warner Brothers had acquired the film rights to Robotech, and would be producing a live-action film with an as-yet-unknown release date (However, it has been listed with a 2010 release date in the Internet Movie Database). Tobey Maguire is producing the film through his Maguire Entertainment banner and is eyeing the lead role in what the studio plans on being a tentpole sci-fi franchise. "We are very excited to bring 'Robotech' to the big screen," Maguire said. "There is a rich mythology that will be a great foundation for a sophisticated, smart and entertaining film...".[5]
Drew Crevello also is producing through his Supercool Hollywood BigTime Productions Company.
Craig Zahler ("The Brigands of Rattleborge") has been tapped to write the screenplay.
In an interview,[6] Harmony Gold representative Kevin McKeever said that Warner Brothers had approached Harmony Gold about the project, that Harmony Gold would have "a say" in its creative direction, and that it was not expected to affect the production schedule for Shadow Rising. He was unable to confirm any details of budget, casting, expected release date, or storyline, explaining that it was too early in the life of the project for these things to have been decided.

Macross DYRL - WTF???, Plus a history of my Macross fandom...
One of my greatest childhood memories is waking up an hour early each morning and watching Robotech and Transformers on the Sci Fi Channel before heading off to the bus stop for school. I didn't know much about the whole splicing and dicing that Harmony Gold was doing back then, but I knew I loved the Lynn Minmei, Rick Hunter, and Lisa Hayes stuff the best. The rest was just blah.
Few years later, with the help of the Internet, I would discover this whole Macross being an independent anime series, and I would see people in chatrooms talking about how great Macross Plus was (released in 1995). Unfortunately, it wouldn't be until 2000 when an anime shop opened up nearby that I was able to rent and view the first Macross Plus OVA. I knew I wanted to see the rest, but that was all they had. So after a couple of months of saving up my allowance, I got Macross Plus the Movie (no way I was gonna save up for four VHS tapes). It was AWESOME. I loved it, and whoever I showed it to loved it also.
Fast forward eight years. It is now 2008. High-speed Internet (such as my FIOS connection) is the norm, and video is readily available and pirated. Over the past eight years, I never bothered with Macross II or Macross 7 as anime was not as readily accessible back then, but I did watch a couple episodes of Macross Zero which I quickly bored with. Imagine my surprise when browsing a random forum a few days ago, I saw all of the Macross SDF episodes available for download. I was bored, and I wanted to see what the difference was between Robotech and Macross. I should have known better. I got sucked in and had to watch episode after episode. I finally stopped when I got bored around Episode 29 (the Zentraedi are starting to mass a force on post-apocalyptic Earth). I was surprised at how faithful Harmony Gold actually had been, and to be honest, I kind of missed the Robotech opening music.
So I start browsing through the Internet some more, and I keep seeing this stuff about Macross: DYRL. Some people like it, some people don't like it.
I look up a clip on YouTube, and it looks awesome. In fact, they are now wearing the UN Spacy uniforms that were worn in Macross Plus. Great! I love consistency. And I later did watch each OVA of Macross Plus separately and preferred the more streamlined movie version. I figured I may like a two hour version of Macross better than 36 long episodes.
Oops.
I downloaded Macross: DYRL and just watched the first thirty minutes of it before just skimming through the rest.
WTF!?? I feel like DYRL is a completely different story altogether, just with the same characters. Now I understand why so many people dislike it. It's like an alternate reality. And what's with Minmei nude? Isn't she only 15????
It's left such a sour taste in my mouth, now I wonder if I should give Macross Frontier a try... Macross Zero bored me... And the clips I saw of Macross 7 just cracked me up with the guitars and vampires... And now DYRL has left me pretty confused....
Oh well, just venting.

What is "deculture" and Sheryl is French?, + Nyan Nyan Nyan Nyan NiHao Nyan!
So thinking about all the languages in the supposed multiculturalverse of Macross, are they actually probably speaking english or some mix of languages instead of Japanese?
When Sheryl writes on her mirror in lipstick she writes: "Desolee Grace, Je suis sortie, Je reviens pour le boulot. Bisous!" which is "Sorry Grace, I've gone out, I'll be back for work. Kisses!" Or is she just being fanciful and practicing the Japanese trend of using European languages in different contexts show show class/culture? Wasn't there a character in Macross Zero that had the same last name as Sheryl, was she French? I'm surprised they got it mostly right whereas if it was english it would almost always be horrible Engrish. (is there Flench?).
Also, just what is "deculture?". I've heard this a few times in Macross Frontier. The sign off is "see you next deculture" and it's in the Nyan Nyan song. "Nyan Nyan, Nyan Nyan, Ni hao Nyan, gorgeous, delicious, deculture!" What would the actual meaning be? Directly translated, it's "meow meow, meow meow, you well (hello) meow, gorgeous delicious, from-culture!" Is she saying that the food at Nyan Nyan is cultured? Also, is this Nyan Nyan related to Minmei's Nyan Nyan or is it like a franchise or traditional to have one in every colony?

Directly translated, it's "meow meow, meow meow, you well (hello) meow, gorgeous delicious, from-culture!" Is she saying that the food at Nyan Nyan is cultured? Also, is this Nyan Nyan related to Minmei's Nyan Nyan or is it like a franchise or traditional to have one in every colony?
Best Battle Scenes compilation disk, MWCon DVD give away
I had an idea of having a DVD with the best Macross battle scenes in one DVD and looping it on a projector at the MWCon. But then I thought it'd be even better if we gave away copies of the DVD at the MWCon. I asked Solscud007 if he can put together such disk and he agreed. But I'm wondering if there's enough to fill up a whole DVD or if there's to much... then which ones do we include or exclude?
I feel like the Max and Miria battle from DYRL and Guld and Isamu's from M Plus are shoe ins... but which others should be on the top of the list?
Thanks ahead...

What is your opinion of Macross frontier??, Sorry if this thread is overkill...
Hope theres room for one more Macross frontier opinion or discussion thread!!!
Hey guys, Just wanted to know what everyone's opinion of Macross Frontier is so far? Its been a long time since the original TV series debuted and the Macross DYRL movie, plus the other series in between, But so far from what i have seen on Youtube and www.veoh.com This series is really enjoyable, the Vajra is a fascinating enemy so far as to what it is or where it comes from... The animation is top notch and the music is really good. Usually by now with most new Anime series (I'm an old school kinda guy) they would have had me saying "Done!" by now, but this is one I really want to keep watching. The VF-25 is awesome and the revamped VF-17's with the VE-1 type equipment are awesome.
So far the Vajra enemy/aliens reminds a bit of the original Gunbuster series, I know were talkin Macross here, but its the best other OVA series out there and example. So far I am not stuck with a million questions like Evangelion and no answers, though that series did kick ass too.
Any how, what do you guys think, pro's, con's, positives & negatives???!!!!

Question for die hard Robotech DVD TV series people, Question about the DVD sets
Which DVD box set do you think is the best? (between the Protoculture Collection and the first released Legacy Collection (complete set)?
And for what reasons?
Bonus Question: For those who have seen the original Macross TV series, which do you prefer? Robotech or the Macross TV series version? Same question goes for Robotech: New Generation vs. Mospeada...
Thank in advance advance for your comments. Looking forward to reading them.

Macross movie timeline
Is there anywhere I can get a timeline of when movies were released and/or actual timeline?
I have not yet delved into all the Macross movies (Oh noos karmajay has only watched Robotech! The horror! ) but plan to soon but I want to watch them all from the beginning.
It MAY be in the Noob question thread but I'm not going to go through 108 pages to find it!
Thanks!

Name the VF-25
Well since only members who live in Japan or have access to a Japanese cellphone will be able to make suggestions on the naming of the new VF-25 according to Azrael's post.
I think we should toss out our own picks for the name, here

Which is your favorite character from Macross Frontier so far?, (And why...)
Mine's got to be Ranka Lee. She is part Zentradi... has a mysterious & tragic past & has green hair!!! Personally I have way more sympathy towards her than to some of the other characters like Alto & Sheryl... She's a tragic figure... I can't wait to find out what will become of her during the series...
Macross Frontier and Fansubs, For the fansubbers kinda enough to join us here
I think I can speak for everyone here when I say we are all very grateful for your time and effort. If I had one request, though, it would be for accuracy over speed. I'll wait another day for a sub release if that means it allows the translator another viewing or two to get it right.
Anywho, thanks again.

Sheryl Nome "A diamond Crevasse" CD released today
just picked up Sheryl Nome's "A diamond Crevasse" cd single.
Track 1: "A diamond Crevasse" is the ending credit song long version of course.
Track 2: "Don't Be Late" you know the kick ass concert song!
Track 3: "A diamond Crevasse" instrumental
Track 4: "Don't Be Late" instrumental It also comes with fictional March 2059 Sheryl In Concert poster, while supplies last of course.
CD was only 1,155¥ pretty cheap compared to back when anime CDs were like $45.00 to $70.00 back in the old Books (Crooks) Nippon days. I really love the ending song to Frontier.

Why do Varitechs/Valkries have bright colors?
Why do Varitechs/Valkries have bright colors?, should they have some camouflage like real world air craft, I know that it is anime, it should be colorful. Do you have any idea?
Name the VF-27..., What name do you want for the mysterious red fighter from the intro?
My choice would be VF-27 Slayer...
(Another reference to Shao Pai Long just like the VF-25 Messiah)

The Clan of Klan, Supporters of All Things Klan Klan!

Ok, this is a secret club (ok not really) for fans of Klan Klan and the Pixie Squadron. Since she is my favorite character thus far, I figured I'd start a thread for her with discussion, pics, and info. Feel free to post what you like AS LONG AS IT RELATES TO HER AND THE PIXIE SQUADRON!!! No debates about mecha (unless it's the Q-Rea's), animation quality (unless it's about THEM), or hatred of them will be tolerated. So, with all that said...
Arihiro Hase's Death, How did he die?
I remember hearing back in the 90's that he died in a motorcycle accident or something, but now I read he committed suicide by jumping out of a window. Is that what actually happened? Did Hikaru's voice actor commit suicide?
Macross Series English Dub, Difference between ROBOTECH series?
I recently ordered the new Macross english dub. I absolutely adore the Robotech series, and I'm wondering; what's the difference going to be aside from the fact that Minmay's singing won't be so atrocious now? Supposedly the story follows the original more closely but in what way did the original Robotech series stray from what the Japanese had intended? I've got a lot of questions about this. Anyone who knows, please feel free to clue me in!

Macross scenes vs. Robotech scenes
First, I am not try to open discussion about deferences between Macross and Robotech. I know all story about it and maybe already discussed in the forum.
I thought they use same scenes for Robotech as Macross. Last night, I watched episodes 1-4 of Macross. I realized some scenes were cut, mostly adultery, in Robotech.
In fist episode of Macross, Roy Focker and Hikaru Ichijyo checking Lynn Minmay's back at air port, but there is no scene in Robotech,
the second episode, Roy Focker and Hikaru Ichijyo were at city with their battroids. Roy were fixing Hikaru's VT001 (VF-1D). Roy were checking Minmay and her aunt's legs on his bis screen .
In fourth episode, Hikaru and Minmay lost in Macross, there was Minmay's shower scene. You can fully see her back but in Macross, you just see her shoulders (I think ) in Robotech.
Those things that I remember, do you know any other scenes like were those.
Another question, Animation in episodes 1-2 very nice, but in episode 3, the animation very bad if you compare with episode 1-2. Were the episodes drawn by artists of deferent companies?
I am sorry, the questions are like newbie questions
